Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors Courses at WHS

Students StudyingStudents have the opportunity to take more challenging courses based on meeting criteria for Honors classes and prerequisites for Advanced Placement classes. While higher GPA and higher level coursework (i.e., Advanced Placement and Honors) can increase odds of acceptance at more competitive/impacted colleges, college prep level classes do meet the minimum requirements for admission. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves with advanced coursework while being careful not to overload themselves. A drop in the GPA due to taking a heavy load of advanced courses is not advisable. Choose courses carefully since students will not be permitted to drop or change levels beyond the fifth week of the semester; and changing classes within the five week add/drop period is also very limited.
